Feasibility Study for the Construction of Polyethylene Production Plant in the Nizhnii Novgorod Region of the Russian Federation.

Project Goal: As a result of increased demand for polyethylene, for which there was a surplus of raw materials available, Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez (NORSI) decided to undertake the construction of a polyethylene production plant with an annual capacity of 80,000 tons. Together with Phillips Petroleum (the licenser of the technology), a feasibility study was prepared for the construction of the facility. Base design work was also completed.

Project Scope: The feasibility study, including marketing, process selection, environmental report, preliminary design, licensing agreement, organization of financing by the U.S. Eximbank. The preliminary design includes required documentation from Phillips Petroleum, a description of the project, process and functional schematics, classification and calculation of pipelines, selection of main equipment (process, electrical, automation and control systems), classification of fire/blast zones, operational safety, etc.
